The key difference between the older versions and the new versions is the ability to adjust the ankle straps. I have never had a real need to do any crazy adjustments to the ankle straps of the older TRX straps I have used in the past. The ability to adjust this part of the device is nice to have. You can use the ankle straps perfectly fine without needing to make adjustments.
